This followed the passing into law of the Dairy Produce Marketing Act 1961, five months earlier when it was signed by President De Valera. These were: Buttercup, Shannon Gold, Kerrygold, Leprechaun, Tub-o-gold and Golden Farm. Common to each was the designation 'Irish Creamery Butter'.
